I’m Shane Weaver, a longtime Grimsby business owner and candidate for Town Council in Ward 3.
For more than 30 years, I have owned and operated a successful martial arts studio.
In combat sports, the result can often be determined long before the bell rings. Preparation matters. You have to study the challenge, do the work, make adjustments, learn from mistakes, and make sure you are ready when the pressure is highest.
When I stand in someone’s corner, my job is to help them succeed. I watch closely, speak honestly, stay focused, and give them what they need to move forward. Sometimes that means encouragement. Sometimes it means telling them something they may not want to hear. Either way, I am there for the same reason: to help them get the best possible result.
That is what “In Your Corner” means to me. It is not passive support. It means preparation, honesty, accountability, judgment, and action. That is the mindset I will bring to Council.
Since 1995, I have operated my business in one of the busiest parts of Ward 3. I have watched decisions made at Town Hall turn into very real consequences at street level. Growth, downtown reconstruction, traffic, parking, infrastructure, and public spending are not abstract political issues to me. I have lived with their effects alongside the residents and businesses around me.
That experience is a major reason I am running.
Over the past four years, I do not believe Ward 3 has always had the strong, consistent representation it deserves. I have seen the difference between being visible in the community and being present when the difficult work needs to be done.
If you elect me, I will be accessible. I will listen when you have a concern, do the homework before I vote, understand where the money is going, ask the questions that need to be asked, and explain my position when the decision is made.
I am not promising that I will always agree with you. I will not. But I will take your concerns seriously, make up my own mind based on the facts, and never avoid an issue simply because it is difficult, inconvenient, or unpopular.
If I support something, I will put my name beside it. If I oppose it, I will put my name beside that too.
When Ward 3 needs a voice, I will speak. When a decision needs to be challenged, I will challenge it. And when you need your councillor to show up and do the work, I will be there.
