What’s the issue?

Let’s be realistic. The next town council is starting at the bottom of a pretty big mountain.

Grimsby has major infrastructure costs ahead of us before we start adding new projects, new programs, and new spending.

I’m not against spending money. I’m against spending it without clearly showing taxpayers what we already owe, what is coming, and what we are getting for it.

Can Council do anything?

Absolutely.

Council controls a huge part of where your local tax dollars go. We control budgets, priorities, reserves, borrowing, capital projects, and a lot of the decisions that create future costs.

We cannot control everything the Region, the Province, or the Federal government sends our way. But we can control how honestly we deal with it.

What next?

Before Council approves something new, I want to know:

What does it cost?

Do we actually need it?

How are we paying for it?

What will it cost us five or ten years from now?

And if I vote to spend your money, my vote will be on the record.
